In graduate school, she focused on renewable and sustainable energy and completed a capstone project on the challenges and opportunities for clean energy in electric cooperatives. As an undergraduate, she completed her honors thesis on the impact of rising carbon dioxide on mature plant responses by conducting research at EucFACE (Eucalyptus Free Air CO2 Enrichment) at Western Sydney University in Australia.
Kayla likes to go alpine and backcountry skiing, explore new running and hiking trails, and experiment with baking.
